Taste of LG to welcome thousands for culinary celebration (losgatan.com) — Downtown Los Gatos will turn pedestrian-only on Saturday, Sept. 19, for the Taste of Los Gatos festival, bringing food tastings, wine, live music, and family activities from noon to 5 p.m. Residents can enjoy free admission, but paid tasting wristbands unlock bites from about 30 restaurants and pours from roughly 20 wineries, plus special experiences like Vintage on Village and multiple music stages.
   

2. Los Gatos beefs-up its design rules for new housing developments (losgatan.com) — Los Gatos has just tightened its objective design standards for new multi-family and mixed-use housing, setting clearer rules on height, materials, and how buildings transition next to single-family homes. These standards will guide all future projects approved after Sept. 1, though some developments may still use state laws like density bonuses or Builder's Remedy to seek waivers from certain local requirements.
   

3. Suspect in fatal World Cup shooting case located in Los Gatos (losgatan.com subscription) — Police say a suspect in a fatal June 28 World Cup-related shooting in downtown San Jose was tracked down and arrested in Los Gatos, tying the high-profile case directly to the town. Eight suspects in total, including several teenagers, now face murder or accessory charges as investigators continue probing the motive and circumstances surrounding the deadly attack.
   

4. 47-year-old pastor makes college football team – and plays in first game in three decades (heartlandernews.com) — A 47-year-old pastor who leads Garden City Church in Los Gatos has joined the San Jose City College football team as a freshman defensive end, returning to the sport after three decades. Balancing practices, games, classes, family life, and church duties, he hopes his unusual journey will inspire others his age to pursue new challenges and better fitness.
