Three Santa Clara Jail Inmates Test Positive For COVID-19

All three inmates are being monitored by custody health staff.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — Three inmates at the Santa Clara County Main Jail have tested positive for the coronavirus, the Sheriff’s Office said.

All three inmates are being monitored by custody health staff.

The Sheriff’s Office said it will be testing all employees who may have come in contact with the infected inmates.

The Sheriff’s Office has created a COVID-19 Investigative Unit that actively tracks potential exposures within the jail facilities and conducts contact tracing of potential exposures.

“We have taken significant measures throughout our agency to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and we are working closely with Santa Clara County Public Health Department and Custody Health Services to expedite testing for all employees and inmates,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
