Los Angeles Raises Minimum Wage To $15: After a fierce debate, the Los Angeles city council has voted 14 to 1 to approve a plan to gradually increase the required wage from $9 to $15 an hour by July 2020.
Thomas G. Hinkerton III, of the National Foundation to Keep Workers Hungry, Destitute and Desperate (NFKWHDD), called the move “appalling” and cautioned reporters that when the minimum wage is raised, many workers stand to lose those very jobs that are allowing their families to go hungry and live in abject poverty.
When asked to justify the huge discrepancy between most workers meager wages and CEO compensation, Mr. Hinkerton reminded reporters that CEO’s typically have to staff and maintain multiple huge mansions, drive expensive cars, fly around in private jets and take exotic vacations, all of which can cost enormous amounts of money. This is why its so vitally important that CEO’s are paid so well.

Hinkerton also pointed out that if all workers are paid a living wage, next thing you know people will be begin demanding decent, safe and humane working conditions - which Hinkerton termed as downright UnAmerican, adding that something like that could further potentially cut into CEO compensation - which, in turn, could greatly disappoint those hoping that the someone will bring back beloved TV shows such as Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.
