• Malibu awards $150,000 in General Fund Grants to 29 local nonprofits — The Malibu Times (malibutimes.com) — Malibu has awarded $150,000 in General Fund Grants to 29 nonprofits that provide services ranging from wildfire preparedness and coastal safety to youth sports, education, and social services. The City Council prioritized Malibu-based groups, with funding already built into the 2026–27 budget and scheduled for release starting in July, directly supporting many programs residents rely on.
   

• Malibu clarifies PCH Speed Camera Program as warning period nears — The Malibu Times (malibutimes.com) — Malibu is about to activate automated speed cameras on Pacific Coast Highway, with a 60-day warning period expected to start in late September and real citations beginning in late November. Five locations along PCH will monitor both directions, targeting drivers going 11 mph or more over the limit, while the city stresses strict privacy protections and a safety-first, not revenue-driven, approach.

With El Niño looming, recent closures and repairs in Laguna Beach highlight what Malibu's shoreline and vital roadway could soon face without stronger protections.
