A Sneak Peek of the new Del Amo Fashion Center & Nordstrom Store

Grand-Court-Under-Construction_Phase-2-sI was recently invited on a Hard Hat Tour of the brand new Del Amo Fashion Center and anchor tenant Nordstrom’s new space.

Anyone who has driven by the location on Hawthorne Boulevard during the past year couldn’t miss the massive redevelopment project. What’s even more impressive is that the mall managed to stay open during construction, relocating shops as needed.

We donned our hard hats and began the tour in the new parking structure. Located on Fashion Way, the structure boasts 1,951 parking spaces which include 21 eVgo electric vehicle charging stations.

The Center has more than 11,000 parking spaces in total. The five-level structure will also give shoppers direct access to Nordstrom and the new Grand Court. Now you’ll never need an umbrella to get to your car…..assuming it ever rains again.

As we headed into the Center, we learned that roughly 95% of the materials from the demolished buildings were reused, salvaged or recycled. In addition, the environmentally friendly initiatives will exceed California’s stringent energy code requirements by 10% with the use of all LED lighting, skylights, sensors, high efficiency hand dryers and low water flow throughout the property.

The Grand Entrance has a four story glass wall that baths the Grand Court in natural light along with living greenery walls. From the Grand Court you can see all three levels of the structure come together, from the lower level of the Outdoor Village to the upper level.

The more than $200 million renovation will include a 100-retailer expansion, offering visitors an upscale shopping and entertainment experience. Along with the new Nordstrom, the retail lineup will feature a two story H&M, Uniqlo, Vera Bradley and a flagship Victoria Secret.

The Luxury Court is located in the concourse between Macy’s and Nordstrom and is flanked by restaurants and high-end retail shops including Kate Spade, Hugo Boss, Michael Kors, Rolex, Tumi and more.

Guests will also enjoy a restaurant row located on Hawthorne Boulevard with five new eateries including FRIDA and Great Maple and a relocated Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ, as well as dining options like Sumo Salad and Blaze Pizza in the beautiful Patio Cafes.

Del Amo Fashion Center will feature a range of guest-friendly amenities, including area and retailer information, complimentary Wi-Fi, stroller and wheelchair rentals, gift cards and Ticketmaster.

The Center will be 2.7-million-square feet upon completion, making it the largest shopping center in the Western U.S. and the fifth largest mall in America.

The new Nordstrom is nearly 140,000-square-foot of fabulosity and will feature new design concepts and a wider selection of merchandise.

To make cosmetics shopping easier, that department will offer four different ways to shop:

-A Mini Must-Haves section which will offer small versions of select products
-A Trending Now area highlighting hot trends of the moment and how to achieve The Look
-A Beauty Concierge where guests can ask questions and book appointments
-A Play Bar to try out new products on your own

Two of the new departments are TopShop and Topman. In 2012, Nordstrom became the exclusive retailer to offer these British trend-led brands in the U.S. The Via C Department will offer fashion from of-the-moment designers such as Frame, A.L.C., Rag & Bone, Camilla, Alexander Wang and more.

The new store will be equipped with 141 mobile devices that allow salespeople to ring up a customer’s transaction anywhere in the store without having to go to a register. Perfect for when you’re in a rush!

Nordstrom will also offer two in-store dining options: Bazille, a full-service restaurant and bar and Ebar for espresso and grab-and-go food.

Nordstrom will host an Opening Gala Fundraiser on Tuesday, October 6. For additional information and ticket purchase, visit the website at http://shop.nordstrom.com/c/del-amo-opening-events.
