Woman Wanted In Attempted Burglary In Manhattan Beach

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA – Manhattan Beach police circulated the name and photo of a suspect wanted for allegedly trying to burglarize a home under construction Thursday.

Alisha Tapia, 29, is being sought as a suspect in the crime, which occurred about 2 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of 32nd Place, said Manhattan Beach police Sgt. Tim Zins.

"The reporting party stated a female suspect attempted to burglarize a home under construction," Zins said. "The female was described as wearing a white painter's suit and ventilator mask to disguise her identity."

The homeowner chased the suspect and took a picture of her, Zins said. Detectives identified Tapia as the woman pictured by the homeowner, and obtained a warrant for her arrest on suspicion of attempted burglary, vandalism, and possession of burglary tools, Zins said.

Tapia, whose last known address was in Long Beach, is described as Hispanic, 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 155 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. Anyone knowing her whereabouts was urged to call police at (310) 802-5140 or (310) 802-5123.
