3 People Rescued From Cliffside Near Muir Beach
A rescue crew in a helicopter hoisted three people to safety after they became stranded on a cliff. Watch the video.

MUIR BEACH, CA — Three people were pulled to safety by helicopter after they were stranded on the face of a steep cliff near Muir Beach on Saturday night, officials said.
The U.S. Coast Guard and Southern Marin Fire Protection District received a report at 8:15 p.m. that three people were stranded on the cliff while two others were stranded on the cliff topside, in view of Muir Beach, the Coast Guard said in a statement.
The helicopter crew arrived at 9 p.m. and hoisted three people, who were not named, to safety. They were taken to Air Station San Francisco with no reported injuries, officials said.

Footage of the rescue posted to Twitter appears to show the Coast Guard lowering a rope down from an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter to lift three people from the cliff.

"Cliff operations are inherently risky for both ground parties and air crew, and are significantly higher risk during nighttime," said Lt. Cmdr. Eric Schwartz, the Air Station San Francisco Dolphin aircraft commander. "We were glad the conditions allowed us to save three lives alongside our partner agencies."
