The Mill Valley Fire Department, in coordination with the Mill Valley Police Department, Southern Marin Fire Protection District, and the Marin County Hazmat Team, are working a hazardous materials spill near the pool at Tamalpias High School, 700 Miller Avenue.

The spill is contained to the building of origin, and authorities are asking that residents and students within .5 mile of Tamalpais High School shelter in place until otherwise notified. There are no road closures at this time, however, residents are encouraged to avoid the area.

Our Fire Chief advises that folks within the half mile radius stay indoors, with windows and doors shut, outside ventilation systems turned off. If you need to leave your house to go about your day, that is fine if you are in a vehicle with windows up and ventilation on recirculate. We will advise on the status of the situation as we get more info.
