GGNRA Gets New Superintendent
Golden Gate National Recreation Area includes landmarks throughout the Bay Area like the Marin Headlands, Alcatraz Island and Ocean Beach.

BAY AREA, CA – The National Park Service has appointed Laura Joss as the new superintendent of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, which includes landmarks throughout the Bay Area like the Marin Headlands, Alcatraz Island and Ocean Beach.
Joss's career with the park service goes back 27 years. Most recently, she served as regional director for the Pacific West Region. Past posts also include superintendent of Arches National Park in Utah.
"I am thrilled to be returning to a park," Joss said in a statement. "Especially one known for creating innovative partnerships and being so strongly tied to the community."

Joss starts her new assignment in November at the GGNRA, which includes portions of Marin, San Francisco and San Mateo counties.
Her old position as regional director for the Pacific West Region will be filled by Deputy Regional Director Martha Lee until a permanent replacement can be selected.
