Authorities Search For Vehicle In Fatal Marin Hit-And-Run

Evidence at the scene indicates the vehicle is either a 1999-2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup or a 2000-2006 Chevrolet Tahoe, officials said.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – California Highway Patrol officers are searching for a Chevrolet Silverado or Chevrolet Tahoe that was possibly involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash Monday night on Highway 101 in Marin County.

Marie Noelle Sigenthaler, 29, of San Francisco, was riding a 2012 Yamaha motorcycle south in the No. 2 lane on the highway north of Tiburon Boulevard around 10 p.m. when she was struck from behind by a vehicle. She was ejected and landed in the No. 1 lane, where she was hit 30 to 60 seconds later by a Volkswagen Tiguan that remained at the scene, CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said. Sigenthaler died at the scene.

A witness said a silver Toyota Prius hit the motorcycle first and fled the scene, but the Prius owner contacted the CHP and investigators determined it was not involved in the collision, Barclay said.
