Marin Authorities Warn Of New Phone Scam
In this new scheme, people receive a phone call where the caller ID appears to originate from their own phone, authorities said.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – Authorities are warning residents to beware of a new telephone scheme.
In this new scheme, people receive a phone call where the caller ID appears to originate from their own phone, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office and Sausalito Police Department. When the call is answered, a recording claims it is the phone company and that there is a problem with the phone service. The recording asks victims to enter the last four digits of their Social Security number to confirm their identify.
Authorities advised people to simply hang up if they receive one of these calls.
