Marin County To Open Warming Shelter Thursday, Friday

The shelter will open at 5 p.m. each evening. Guests are asked to sign-in by 8 p.m. each night.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Marin County will be activating a severe weather emergency shelter in anticipation of several days of heavy rain and cold temperatures, the county said Wednesday.

The shelter, located at the Marin Health and Wellness Campus at 3240 Kerner Blvd. in San Rafael, will be open from 5 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. on Thursday and Friday. Participants are encouraged to sign in by 8 p.m. each day.

The heated shelter is a joint outreach between the county's Department of Health and Human Services and Episcopal Community Services of San Francisco.

Marin County activates emergency shelter when rainfall is predicted to last for at least 72 hours with more than one inch of rain per day, the county said.
