Pilot ID'd In Deadly Plane Crash At Point Reyes National Seashore
John Rowland Wilson, 58, of Houston, was flying from Santa Barbara to the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport, officials said.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – The Marin County Sheriff's Office has identified a pilot who died in a plane crash last week at Point Reyes National Seashore as John Rowland Wilson, 58, of Houston.
Wilson's Cessna 172 was found Friday on a steep hillside in the southern area of Point Reyes National Seashore after a search that began Thursday.
Wilson was flying from Santa Barbara to the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport, and its last known position was near Bolinas, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said.

The U.S. Coast Guard received a signal around 1 p.m. Thursday from an emergency locator transmitter. Coast Guard crews searched 2 miles off shore but did not locate the plane.
A second signal from a transmitter was received from the south area of the Point Reyes National Seashore, prompting a land search by 20 to 30 people, Point Reyes National Seashore spokesman John Dell'Osso said.

The Marin County Sheriff's Office's coroner's division, the National Park Service, the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
