Search Continues For Missing Hiker Near Muir Beach

MARIN COUNTY, CA – A scaled back search for a man reported missing over the weekend near Muir Beach continued Tuesday. Tyler Silva is believed to be missing near Pirate's Cove Trail in the unincorporated Marin County community of Muir Beach, according to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

The 21-year-old was on a hike with his girlfriend when he reportedly ventured off trail and was separated. He was reported missing 3:30 p.m. Sunday, according to park spokeswoman Dana Polk.

National Park Service rangers have led the search for Silva since Sunday. A team of 50 participated in the search Sunday and Monday on roads, trails and the coastline between Muir Beach and Tennessee Valley, a small, undeveloped area near Mill Valley.

"A scaled back search continues today," Polk said Tuesday. "There is no new information to report."
