We are rising! An update on the progress of Tribe Rising India

Tribe Rising India supports the Santal children of Gurap, India. Come and hear more!

Today, 7.5 million Santals live across 4 northern Indian states—making them the largest tribe in modern day India. Most Santal adults are day laborers, who do not own land and marry young. Despite the deeply-routed caste prejudices against tribal peoples and being born into abject poverty, the Santal children are welcoming, eager to learn, hard-working, grateful and joyful. A trip to Gurap inspired Tribe Rising founders Paul and Annette Venables to begin a project to raise money to support the education of children who might otherwise not have an opportunity to be in school past the fourth grade. The progress has been astounding, and there is more to come!

If you'd like to learn more about this important effort to support education for the Santal children, come to Our Lady of Mount Carmel's O'Brien Hall tonight, Friday, January 10, 2020, at 7pm . Address: 3 Oakdale Ave., Mill Valley. Parking available in the church lot.
