WRITING WORKSHOP TOMORROW

THE ANTAGONIST -- STRENGTHENING THE B-STORY

THE ANTAGONIST -- STRENGTHENING THE B STORY – Catherine Flaxman

Many writers subtly (or not so subtly) identify with the protagonist in their writing. This can result in an undeveloped antagonist, a weakened B story, and a protagonist who operates as an extension of oneself.

In Jungian terms, the protagonist and antagonist represent each other’s shadow side (parts we fear, disown or disallow in ourselves) and have valuable lessons to learn from each other. Specific writing exercises and a 10 step writing process will help you deepen their relationship, turn your story or memoir on its head and write from the antagonist point of view, revealing a vibrant dance of opposites between the two.
