Bald Eagles Building Nest: Photos Of The Day

The Bald Eagle pair chose an unlikely place to build their rest, captivating an entire community from nest building to fledgling.

MILPITAS, CA — From January through spring, Milpitas residents were captivated by a nesting pair of Bald Eagles, who chose a redwood tree in front of an elementary school to build their nest.

Patch reader Robin Thurner first spotted the eagles in mid-January and documented their journey. Here are three photos that Robin shared as the eagles built their nest.

As the months progressed, crowds of people gathered on the sidewalk across the street from the school, many with telephoto lenses trained on the tree. The parents flew back to the nest bearing rodents and fish to feed their growing eaglet. The eaglet has since fledged.
