Milpitas Police Arrest Car Theft Suspect

MILPITAS, CA — Milpitas Police have arrested Johnny Arce for alleged vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the outstanding warrants.
On New Year's Day, an officer noticed a gold 2014 Hyundai Elantra with temporary paper plates in the parking lot of Walmart. According to a statement by Sgt, Steven Fox, "The officer inspected the car and saw a man sleeping in the right front passenger seat. A check of the vehicle identification number (VIN) revealed the car was reported stolen from Santa Clara on December 20, 2016. Officers detained the passenger and conducted surveillance of the car."
Police say that when Arce returned to the car and tried to get in, he ran into Walmart but he was quickly arrested inside the store.

Arce was on already on probation for vehicle theft in Santa Clara County, plus he had three felony warrants and a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest.
Arce was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

The passenger was released at the scene.
