Milpitas Smoke Caused By Distant Fires
Residents have been asking about hazy skies and the smell of smoke.
MILPITAS, CA — Smoke and haze are visible Thursday throughout the Bay Area but there is no fire close by. The smoke has drifted from fires in Northern California.
You can't even see the outline of the hills across the valley.
The Moraga Police Department sent out an advisory which said, "Both the Moraga Police and Moraga-Orinda Fire are receiving calls about smoke smells and smoke in the air. There are large fires burning near Happy Camp (in Siskyou County), Oroville (in Butte County) and Helena (in Trinity County). Smoke from those fires is drifting into our area. We currently do not have any active fires burning in our area. "

Lafayette Police and San Mateo County also issued advisories.
Residents took to social media to ask about the smoke.
