Mission Viejo seeks volunteers for upcoming art festival
Arts Alive takes place April 30 and May 1.

If you can draw, paint, or sculpt, or would like to help those who do, Mission Viejo wants you.
The city is looking for artists and volunteers for the upcoming Arts ALIVE festival April 30 and May 1.
The event will feature street painting, artists workshops, a Green Expo and, of course, local artists showing their work. The festival will be at Oso Viejo Community Park on the Village Green and at the neighboring Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center at 24932 Veterans Way.

City staff want volunteers ages 16 and older to help with interactive arts, craft activites and artist booths. Interested volunteer can find the application form here.

Street painters, who use chalk to create artwork on sidewalks and asphalt, are also sought.
“To us, it’s this magical opportunity to really experience, hands on, visual and performing arts,” said Dru Maurer, city cultural services supervisor. ‘We’re trying to grow the arts in Mission Viejo."
Maurer said that the event first begin 2007.
As part of the Green Expo and in honor of Earth Day, Arbor Day and Volunteer Connection Day, city staff are also looking for people to help plant flowers and landscaping plants from 8 a.m. to noon at Oso Viejo Park on April 30.
