Blog: Operation Christmas Child at La Crescenta Presbyterian Church

Operation Christmas Child has begun at La Crescenta Presbyterian!

La Crescenta Presbyterian Church has just launched its annual “Operation Christmas Child” campaign.  The project involves collecting shoe boxes filled with toys and goodies for impoverished children around the world.  This ministry is part of Franklin Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse.  The children and families of the community are encouraged to prepare as many boxes as possible.  Pastor Andy Wilson said “Last year we nearly doubled the amount of boxes that we prepared due to a very generous couple in our church who offered to match box for box those gathered by the whole church.  We sent in something like 600 boxes last year!”

There are full guidelines for the packing of the boxes at: WWW.lcpc.net under “Missions.”  Children’s Ministry Director Ashley Adamson, who is in charge of the program, says “This is a great project for children to participate in because it helps them to appreciate what they have and encourages compassion for others.“  Each year we strive to collect more boxes than the previous year and our deadline for box collection is November 11,” says Admason.

La Crescenta Presbyterian Church is located at 2902 Montrose Avenue in La Crescenta.  For more information please contact the church office at 818 249-6137 or online at www.lcpc.net.
