HSCV Meeting October 21

Tuna Camp, located on the edge of the Crescenta Valley, was one of the
first detention stations to open after the start of WWII. It interrogated
and processed hundreds of "enemy aliens" - Japanese, Germans, and Italians,
guarded by armed soldiers and barbed wire fences. Little was known about
this sinister chapter in our local history until recently when the site of
Tuna Camp, today the Verdugo Hills Golf Course, was targeted with
redevelopment into hundreds of houses. Sunland-Tujunga historian Lloyd Hitt
will show newly found photos of the camp during wartime, and talk about the
site's past, its present, and its controversial future as a historic
landmark. Monday, October 21st, 7PM at the Center for Spritual Living, 4845
Dunsmore, La Crescenta.
