“JFK + 50: Revisiting a Televised Nightmare”
will be presented at Glendale Community
College on Friday, Nov. 22 at 12:30 p.m. in Kreider Hall.
Dr. Mike Eberts, Professor of Mass
Communication will be the speaker.
On Friday, Nov. 22, 1963 America
watched a real-life nightmare unfold on television. Millions remember where they were, what they
were doing and who they were with when they heard the shocking news: President
John F. Kennedy had been shot in Dallas, Texas. The intensity continued with
the news coverage at Parkland Hospital, the capture of Lee Harvey Oswald, the
swearing in of Lyndon Johnson as President and Oswald’s murder by Jack
Ruby. The events were covered live by
television networks that had only recently expanded their network newscasts to
a half hour.
