Community Corner

L.A. Writers Reading Series

The next presentation in the Los Angeles Writers Reading Series at Glendale Community College will feature author Craig Clevenger reading from his second novel “Dermaphoria” on October 24 from 12:20 to 1:30 p.m. in the Student Center conference room.  A question and answer session will follow the presentation.  The event is free and open to the public.  Seating is limited and early arrival is advised.

Clevenger is known for his hard-edged, neo-noir writing.  His 2005 novel “Dermaphoria” centers on a brilliant chemist who wakes up in jail after a drug lab explosion, suffering from amnesia.  Clevenger is a longtime instructor and contributor to LitReactor, the online writers workshop and magazine.  “Dermaphoria” has been adapted for a feature film for upcoming release.

The biannual Los Angeles Writers Reading Series is coordinated by GCC English instructor Claire Phillips to celebrate local writers and to give students access to literary events where they can meet and talk with some of the authors of the books they have been reading in their English classes.
