Local Group Offering Guided Tree Walk

Tours of the area foothills will be held mid-May.

A local non-profit group will be hosting a guided tour of the Verdugo Woodlands.

The community Tree Walk, hosted by local organization TreePeople, will take place Sunday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Participants will be treated to a leisure stroll through the woodlands and will learn how to identify species of trees, organizers said. A picnic will be provided after the walk.

The guided walk is held in partnership with the Verdugo Woodlands West Homeowners' Association.

TreePeople is a non-profit group whose mission is to inform people about ways to create a sustainable future for Los Angeles. In the past, TreePeople's mantra was to educate people and inspire them to plant trees as a means to lower temperatures, clan the air and replenish groundwater supplies.
