City Exhibits Work of Young Artists
Annual display of classroom art program highlights children's creativity and skills.
Move over, Van Gogh, and make room for these future artists.
For the next several weeks, the artwork of dozens of elementary-school students from public and private schools in Mountain View, Los Altos and Cupertino will be displayed at the Arts4School Student and Faculty Show, a collaboration between the (CSMA) and the city of Mountain View. The exhibit will host its opening reception for "An Observer's Notebook," from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday in the rotunda at on Castro Street.
At , Mira Ross, an art instructor with the Arts4Schools program, gave lessons to the four classes that made up the third grade. Her students drew the contours of birds and then created environments in which the wildlife could live as part of their exercise in observation.

For the students invited to exhibit at City Hall, the experience is an exciting one.
"The City Hall show is a really fun experience for them, because they get to see their art displayed," said Ross, who has taught for three years with the program. "They are real artists."

The exhibit runs through March 21.
