Besides shopping, booths and environmental stands, there will be a  “Live Wild Cats” education presentation by Leopard’s Etc. Where/When:

Where/When: , 26870 Moody Rd, Los Altos Hills,  Saturday,  7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m/

Why Go:  In what could be a busy weekend in Los Altos,  sitting down and taking in a movie could be a good way to bring Saturday to a close. And an appropriate topic to sandwich in between Easter and Earth Day. The  movie,"What's on Your Plate?" follows 11-year-old Sadie and Safiyah as they interview farmers, school officials, chefs and others.

Pricing: $5 donation

Where/When: Marine Science Institute, 500 Discovery Parkway, Redwood City, Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Why Go: This celebration looks at Earth Day from a marine and waterlife perspective.  Here's just a few of the offerings: Ecotours (special pricing) aboard a 90-foot ship; the marine animals in the Discovery aquarium, including shark feedings, arts and crafts tents where your child can make a water cycle bracelet and entertainment by Earthcapades Environmental Vaudevilla, a Hawaiian dance troupe and live music. And that's just a few of the samplings.

Pricing: Earth Day events on the grounds are free; some events (Ecotours) have a fee.

Where/When:, 1156 High St, Santa Cruz,Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Why Go:  Admitted to UC Santa Cruz?  Not sure whether to go or go elsewhere? Spring Spotlight is designed specifically for admitted students and their families, to help them find out if UC Santa Cruz is the right fit for them. You get a good look at the school — there's a walking tour and a thorough overview of what you can expect in terms of academics, residential and student life at UC Santa Cruz. Where/When: 3327 Edward Ave, Santa Clara (Evolution Training Center), Saturday, 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.

Why Go: Yes, it's a bit of a hike to Santa Clara, but this seminar for your child could well be worth it. Call it stranger conflict management, but basically this seminar will teach your kid what to do if a stranger approaches and how to avoid trouble. For ages 5 to 10, a parent must be present during the seminar.
