Grab and Go Kids Planner: Mar. 23 to Mar. 27

Here's a wide variety of things to do with your kids, in and around Mountain View this week.

A race, a fair to raise money for orphans in Zimbabwe, a summer camp open house, a couple of musical plays and a family concert are just some of the offerings in and around Mountain View this week. Check out our Mountain View Patch suggestions here!

Where/When: , 1120 Miramonte Ave., Sunday noon to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Support a good cause—actually two good causes, an orphanage in Zimbabwe and a garden project in Paraguay—and have a good time. The 12th annual "Run for Zimbabwe"   includes 11 runs, six animal mascots, children's art exhibit, shoe drive, two Zimbabwean bands, buffet, T-shirts, games and African raffle prizes. The races run throughout the afternoon and are divided up by age and gender, kicking off with a 220-yard pre-school race right after 1 p.m. 

Pricing: $5 to enter the race; the fair is free.

Where/When: , 1175 Castro St. (Multipurpose Room) Thursday, Friday, Saturday, doors open at 6:30 p.m.; Show at 7 p.m.

Why Go: Support the students of Graham Middle School in this updated tale of the "Wonderful Wizard of Oz," told with an African-American perspective. They have worked hard—now go see them do their thing.

Pricing: $10 adults, $7 for students

Where/When: , 500 Castro St. Friday, 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.; Saturday, 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.  

Why Go: This is a marvelous children's tale and even better when acted out by our . "Rikki Tikki Tavi" is Rudyard Kipling's  story of the mongoose who defies a cobra. You an see it on MVCPA's will be presented on the Second Stage.

Where/When: , 1 N San Antonio Rd., Los Altos, Saturday, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

Why Go: This is a nice family outing for your and your children. Besides kid-friendly music from Jump for Joy Music and Nick Barone Puppets., the event also includes a light dinner.

Pricing: $15 in advance, $20 at the door.

Where/When: Mountain Camp Woodside (formerly Camp Unique), 302 Portola Rd, Portola Valley, Sunday, 12:30 p.m.; Camp tours at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. starting at Founders Hall.

Why Go: If you are looking for a summer camp for your child, it might be worthwhile to go to Sunday's open house here with your prospective camper. Mountain Camp will serve Mountain View this summer and runs both a day camp and a resident camp program.
