Grab and Go Planner: Mom, Music and a Different Kind of Race

A jazz festival, a Mother's Day concert, babysitting courses and skateboarders--there's something for everyone!

This is our weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children and, yes, even teens! The idea is to offer you suggestions about things you can do as a family!

Each week, we give you the info on five of the best family activities or events for the week. You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Look for the kids’ planner each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips—just add them to the comment box. Even if you disagree with our picks, let us know. We want to hear from you!

Why Go: A great way to spend Mother's Day with your family. Hear the musical performances of our student musicians, including a kind of music you might not expect — early music minstrels. This is something the while family can enjoy and a perfect way to end a family celebration of what is after all, a family holiday — Mother's Day.

Why Go: The Running of the Bulls, now in its 9th year, is a perfect way to strart Mother's Day with a family run. The Bulls race and the Calves Kids' Fun Run are humanely inspired by the annual bull-running in Pamplona, Spain. Here in Palo Alto, our Bulls and Cows are Local and Olympic Runners in costume! The Bulls and Cows start late, run in timed intervals and aim to mix and mingle with you. But the more bulls and cows you beat to the finish line the more chances you have to win a prize. The "Running of the Calves" race for kids 12 and under starts at 10 a.m.

Pricing: $10 to $30
