Why Go: This is the Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society's Spring Family Adventure. Get out and go birding with friends and family with staff and volunteers who know about birds. No experience necessary. Reservations required by Wednesday, so act right away and call 408-252-3740.

When/Where: 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, Children's Discovery Museum, 180 Woz Way, San Jose
Why Go: This is a special offering. More than 80 short films from around the world have been selected for screening. See a few films or see them all. You and your child can even meet some of the filmmakers.

Where/When: Mountain Camp Woodside, 302 Portola Rd., Portola Valley, Sunday, 1-3 p.m.
Why Go: If you are looking into summer camp for your children, this is a good opportunity for you and your children to explore one option. Mountain Camp Woodside has day and residential camp opportunities. Camp tours are scheduled at 1 and 2 p.m. and start at the Founders Hall at the Woodside Priory School.

Where/When: , 26870 Moody Rd., Los Altos Hills, Saturday, 9:30-11 a.m.
Why Go: This is for kids who ages 9 to 11. Send them over to get their hands dirty, play with worms—and then plant and take care of the organic garden at Hidden Villa with Science Educator Whitney. Two more things they will get to do—a take-home planting project and harvesting of a snack (a healthy one) to share with the group.
Pricing: $25 per child, no adult required to attend
