Hennessey Fire 98% Contained; Full Containment Expected Oct. 1

NAPA COUNTY, CA — The Hennessey Fire was 98 percent contained at 305,651 acres Wednesday evening, Cal Fire said in the final official update on the LNU Lightning Complex Fires.

Cal Fire expects full containment of the LNU Lightning Complex Fires, the fourth-largest wildfire in California state history, by Oct. 1.

The fires broke on Aug. 17; as of Wednesday evening, the complex of fires had charred 363,220 acres and destroyed 1,491 homes and other structures in Napa, Sonoma, Lake, Solano, Yolo and Colusa counties.

The Hennessey Fire in Napa County is the largest of the blazes. Five civilians were killed in the fire, three in Napa County and two in Solano.

A firefighter and four civilians suffered injuries.

The Walbridge Fire in Sonoma County was 55,209 acres and 98 percent contained Wednesday, while the Meyers Fire was holding at 2,360 acres and is fully contained.

The cause of the fires remains under investigation.
