Nancy Pelosi's Husband Charged With DUI Causing Injury In Napa: DA
The Napa County District Attorney's Office formally charged Paul Pelosi, husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, with two misdemeanors.

NAPA COUNTY, CA — The Napa County District Attorney’s Office filed charges Thursday against Paul Pelosi, husband of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in connection with a suspected DUI crash May 28 in Napa Valley wine country.
The charges were misdemeanors and included driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and driving with a 0.08 percent blood alcohol level or higher causing injury.
"Under California law, these charges can be filed as a misdemeanor or felony," the District Attorney's Office said. "Based upon the extent of the injuries suffered by the victim, the District Attorney filed misdemeanor charges. This decision is consistent with how our office handles these cases with similar injuries."

Pelosi was released from custody upon his promise to appear for an arraignment Aug. 3 in Napa County Superior Court. The court date was selected by the Napa County Department of Corrections at the time of his release, the District Attorney's Office said.
The punishment for driving under the influence causing injury as a misdemeanor is set by California law and includes up to five years of probation, a minimum of five days in jail, installation of an ignition interlock device, fines and fees, completion of a court-ordered drinking driver class, along with other terms as appropriate, the district attorney said.

A spokesperson for Paul Pelosi declined to comment.
Around 10:15 p.m. May 28, Pelosi, 82, was driving his 2021 Porsche Carrera sports car on state Highway 29 and Oakville Cross Road when he collided with a 2014 Jeep SUV. The collision caused major damage to both vehicles.
Paramedics responded, but Pelosi and the other driver both declined medical treatment at the scene. The other driver reported in a June 2 interview that the day after the crash, he had pain in his right arm, right shoulder and neck.
The driver, who was not identified, told Napa County district attorney investigators it was difficult to lift things with his right arm and that he suffered from headaches that were not present before the collision, the office said.
A blood sample was taken from Pelosi at 12:32 a.m. May 29 and was sent to the California Department of Justice for testing. The results showed Pelosi's blood sample had a .082 percent blood alcohol concentration, the office said.
The following narrative was included in court documents filed Thursday in the case:
