2 Stolen Vehicles Recovered In Newark, 1 Arrest

A tip from a suspicious resident led to the recovery.

NEWARK, CA — A tip from a concerned neighbor led to the recovery of two stolen vehicles and the arrest of one man in Newark Thursday morning.

The resident called police to report that a black SUV had just parked at the location and a male driver entered a residence in the 6500 block of Normandy Drive.

When Officer Blair Slavazza arrived she found a 38-year-old man from Newark standing near the vehicle. "A probation search was conducted and the keys were found in Meier’s pocket," police report in a wrriten statement. "The vehicle was found to be stolen and he was arrested for possessing a stolen vehicle and for violating the terms of his probation."

Meanwhile, Officer Marc Palacio located and recovered another stolen vehicle parked around the corner from the residence. It was processed for evidence and returned to its owner.

Newark Police expressed gratitude for the tip from the neighbor and encourage other citizens to report suspicious activity.
