3 Arrested In Violent Home Invasion In Newport Beach: Police

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Three Los Angeles County residents were arrested after a violent home invasion robbery in Newport Beach led detectives on a months-long investigation.

The home invasion happened on March 13, when officers were dispatched to a reported home invasion robbery at a short-term rental property in Newport Beach.

Investigators learned that two masked suspects — who were armed with handguns — entered the home and demanded money and narcotics from the people inside.

During the incident, multiple people were assaulted and sustained injuries that required medical attention, police said.

The masked suspects apparently stole personal property, including cell phones, jewelry, vehicle keys and other valuables before leaving the scene.

The suspects, later identified as 38-year-old Linda Shahin, 35-year-old Edward Graves — both of Los Angeles — and 28-year-old Miguel Cervantes, of Alhambra, were arrested on June 3.

All three suspects were booked on charges related to conspiracy and robbery, police said.

Graves and Cervantes were also booked on charges related to assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

According to investigators, police found evidence connected to the robbery after carrying out search warrants at several locations related to the suspects.

Detectives also found firearms and "additional evidence that remains under investigation."

"Based on evidence obtained throughout the investigation, detectives believe Shahin played a significant role in orchestrating the robbery, while Graves and Cervantes are believed to have carried out the home invasion," police said.
