Metrolink Train Kills Pedestrian In Northridge

The fatality resulted in the closure of five train lines, which reopened around 10 a.m.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — A Metrolink train carrying passengers from Ventura County to downtown Los Angeles fatally injured a pedestrian near Northridge early Thursday morning.

The VC Line 102 train struck the person about 6:40 a.m. near the 8600 block of Lindley Avenue, near Parthenia Street.

Tracks were closed until 9:51 a.m., according to Metrolink spokesperson Paul Gonzales. Metrolink also said that lines 103, 104, 105, and 106 to Los Angeles were all closed, and alternate bus routes were provided.

Gonzales said that all lines are now running according to schedule.

The Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Coroner are investigating the situation. No information is available on the identity of the victim, or whether the death was intentional.
