Dense Fog Advisory Issued For North Bay

Meteorologists said visibility is down to a quarter-mile at all three major Bay Area airports in addition to roadways.

BAY AREA, CA – The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory for the North and East Bay valleys, in addition to the San Francisco Bay north of the Bay Bridge early Tuesday morning.

The advisory was first issued around 3 a.m., and extends as far east as the eastern Contra Costa County line and as far north as the northern Sonoma County line.

Visibility is down to a quarter-mile at all three major Bay Area airports – San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose – in addition to roadways in the cities of Santa Rosa, Napa, San Rafael, Petaluma, Novato, Rohnert Park, Concord, Antioch, Livermore, Walnut Creek, Pleasanton, Pittsburg and San Ramon, according to the National Weather Service.

"A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be reduced to less than one quarter-mile," weather officials said. "If driving, slow down, use your headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of you."

The advisory is set to expire around 10 a.m. Tuesday.
