Novato Freeway Shooting Under Investigation, CHP Says

NOVATO, CA — Authorities are investigating after a person said an unknown gunman shot at them Friday night on Highway 101 in Novato, the California Highway Patrol said.

The victim called 911 shortly before 8:45 p.m. Friday, saying they had been shot at on southbound 101 at Atherton Avenue. The victim was uninjured, but "numerous shots" hit their car, the CHP said.

The suspect car, a silver Honda Civic, exited the freeway into Novato as the victim followed them, authorities said. The victim decided to distance themselves from the Civic as it got back onto southbound 101.

Authorities are working with the victim to gather more information about the suspects, the CHP said. Southbound 101 was closed north of Atherton for about 20 minutes as officers looked for evidence along the roadway.
