Novato High School officially opened its new cafeteria, Monday, May 12, at 10:00 am, during the students’ break time. Stephanie Klunk, a NHS senior and ASB President, had the honor of cutting the red ribbon to officially open the new café/cafeteria. Students, staff, board and city council members witnessed the much-anticipated opening of the newly expanded cafeteria and kitchen to the school.
The expanded cafeteria, known as the Café, also includes an enlarged food service area that brings an entire different dining experience for many students. Healthful meal options with an abundance of fresh fruits and veggies, along with a salad bar featuring local produce, are available to all students and staff.
The new kitchen, equipped as a full production cooking facility, allows the preparation and serving of healthier meals made with local, farm fresh foods. It contains a Chefs most versatile piece of equipment: a large tilting braising pan, as well as a pasta cooker, double stack convection oven and induction burners. There are plenty of work tables for food preparation, sinks to wash produce and a walk-in cooler and freezer to store all of fresh fruits and vegetables and frozen products. The kitchen is also equipped with a dishwashing machine and a large dry storage room.
