• Man Holds Knife To Woman's Throat, Then Barricades Himself In Novato Home: Police (patch.com) — Novato police say a local man held a knife to a woman's throat near the Square Shopping Center, then threatened a bystander who tried to intervene. Officers tracked him to a nearby home, where he allegedly barricaded himself for about two hours before surrendering with help from a family member and being booked into Marin County Jail.
• Novato Youth Football begins new era (marinij.com) — Novato Youth Football is back after a 13-year hiatus, with about 70 kids practicing at San Jose Middle School and gearing up for a Sept. 12 home opener at Novato High. Local coaches, alumni and businesses rallied to fund equipment and rebuild a south Novato program so neighborhood kids can play with future Novato High teammates instead of leaving town.
