• Suspect Arrested in Shooting – Vista Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) Prove Crucial (northcountydailystar.com) — Investigators have arrested a juvenile Oceanside resident in connection with an August 15 drive-by shooting at a Vista restaurant, after Automated License Plate Readers helped identify the suspect's vehicle. Working with Oceanside Police, detectives recovered an un-serialized firearm and continue to investigate, asking anyone with information to contact the Vista Sheriff's Station or Crime Stoppers.
   

• 'He had earned his title': Wylie honors Marine Pvt. Aiden Craig (dallasnews.com) — A Texas community is mourning 18-year-old Marine recruit Aiden Craig, who suffered a medical emergency at Camp Pendleton and later died at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside. While the Marine Corps reviews the circumstances, friends, family, and former coaches remembered his kindness, determination, and commitment to earning the Marine title he sought.
