KOCT's North County Roundtable Delves Into Beach Sand Erosion
KOCT takes a deep dive into the sand depletion and replenishment issues facing Oceanside with Mayor Esther Sanchez, Deputy Mayor Ryan Keim.

OCEANSIDE, CA — The beach sand in Oceanside is disappearing. The problem is undeniable, but the solutions remain a matter of considerable debate and confusion. KOCT delved into the issue in a recent North County Roundtable to explore why sand erosion occurs — specifically within Oceanside — the available options to respond to the problem, and the complexity of the challenges with rising sea levels and the decrease in sand replenishment resources.
This edition of KOCT North County Roundtable looks at sand depletion and replenishment of Oceanside. The panel takes an in-depth look at our sand, how the beaches are changing, what are the impacts, what more can be done, and some options for the future. On the panel is Mayor Esther Sanchez, Deputy Mayor Ryan Keim, Bob Guza from Scripps Institute of Oceanography San Diego, Stefanie Sekich Quinn, Coastal Preservation Manager for The Surfrider Foundation with host Alison St John.
