OCEANSIDE, CA — The beaches in Oceanside are suffering from shoreline erosion and are practically gone in many spots along the coast. There is no question that something must be done. Cities up and down the California coast have been grappling with this problem with increasing urgency.

The City of Oceanside is in the final stages of determining the plan of action to be adopted in order to save our local beaches. On Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at 6:00 p.m., the Public Works Department will host a second virtual public workshop to share the final results of the beach sand replenishment and retention feasibility study. A previous workshop was held on September 15, 2020 to outline the feasibility study and introduce six preliminary concepts and strategies to protect City beaches from the impacts of long-term shoreline erosion.

The meeting on June 30 will identify the beach replenishment/retention option. The final results will be presented to the City Council at a workshop on August 11, 2021 at 2:00 pm.

This June 30 public workshop will be held virtually on zoom, but people may also phone in, if desired. Visit this webpage for meeting access information.
