SANTA ANA, CA β€” A commercial building caught fire late Monday, burning late into the night, Orange County Fire Authority reported. Firefighters successfully knocked down the two-alarm fire by just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Fire crews from the Orange County Fire Authority were called just after 11:30 p.m. Monday to the 3000 block of Harvard Street.

There, a one-story building was fully involved, with flames coming out of the sides and erupting through the roof, said an OCFA spokesman Capt. Greg Barta.

"Due to the volume of fire, we quickly transferred to a defensive strategy," he said. Costa Mesa Fire Department, Fountain Valley Fire Department and Santa Ana Fire Department assisted with quelling the blaze.

Firefighters, who battled hanging electrical wires and other potential hazards, including propane tanks in the rear of the building, finally got the flames under control in the early morning hours.
