Pit Bull Owner Says Puppy Did Not Overdose On Fentanyl In OC
The owner of a pit bull puppy is disputing claims made by authorities that his dog overdosed on fentanyl early September.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA — The owner of a pit bull pup that Irvine police say overdosed on fentanyl is disputing claims made by authorities after the dog's drug urine test came out negative, The Orange County Register reported.
The owners of the puppy were arrested Sept. 6 in a Walmart parking lot in Irvine on suspicion of possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia and animal cruelty, according to a previous Patch report. According to the report, the pit bull puppy was found in the car "appearing lethargic."
The puppy was treated with Narcan and revived, police said.

Irvine Police Department Sgt. Karie Davies told the newspaper that while the drug test given to the puppy did not test specifically for fentanyl, and additional blood work is being done.
