Police Crack Down On Illegal Street Takeover In Orange County

The 200+ cars involved in the takeover were doing donuts, driving on the wrong side of the road and launching fireworks, authorities said.

TUSTIN, CA — A street takeover of roughly 200 vehicles was shut down by the Tustin Police Department on Friday, July 28, authorities said Saturday.

The incident happened late Friday night after the Tustin Police Departments received reports of a reckless group of vehicles doing donuts, driving on the wrong side of the road and launching fireworks in Tustin.

According to authorities, the TPD was able to surround the group of cars with the help of the Orange County Sheriff's Department Air Support and the Irvine Police Department.

By the end of the night, the Tustin Police Department reported 51 vehicles were towed and 18 were impounded for 30 days for participating in the takeover.

Police also issued 20 citations for various vehicle code violations, authorities said.
