SANTA ANA, CA —An Orange County Sheriff's Department deputy's gun accidentally went off Wednesday morning at John Wayne Airport, striking an airport employee in the arm.
The "unintentional discharge" of the service weapon occurred about 7 a.m. in the airport's terminal administrative office, said Carrie Braun, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Department.
The woman, an administrator for the airport, was struck by a round that "penetrated a wall," Braun said.
