Beach Hazard Statement Issued Along Peninsula Coast
Breaking waves of between 15 and 20 feet are expected, along with increased risk of strong rip and longshore currents and wave run-up.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A beach hazard statement is in effect along the Bay Area coast, including the Peninsula shoreline.
The National Weather Service issued the alert Thursday morning, and it will remain in place until 6 p.m.
Breaking waves of between 15 and 20 feet are expected, along with increased risk of strong rip and longshore currents and wave run-up. A large, long period of northwest swell is arriving at the coast throughout the day.
