Firefighters Battled Blaze in Sepulveda Pass Area
At least 10 acres burned Monday night in the blaze between North Mandeville Canyon Road and North Canyonback Road.
The Los Angeles Fire Department fought a blaze in the Sepulveda Pass area Monday evening between North Mandeville Canyon Road and North Canyonback Road. Just before 9 p.m., LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey said the fire was 50 percent contained and the wildfire burned at least 10 acres.
Humphrey said the fire was reported at about 4:10 p.m. Firefighters were on the scene with helicopters flying above dropping water to fight the blaze, said Humphrey.
Also as of 9 p.m., no homes were threatened and no injuries were reported. The LAFD said there were no formal evacuations. Roads in the immediate area had been closed while firefighters were on scene, said Humphrey. However, the streets reopened and residents of the 3600 block of Mandeville Canyon Road were allowed to return home at about 8:30 p.m, according to LAFD officials.
Humphrey said LA County Fire Department crews joined LAFD firefighters and planned to remain there throughout the night. Ground crews stayed in the area to clean up into the night hours as well.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
