Saturday, August 31st, 2013. A gorgeous hot day on the beach in Pacific Palisades, just south of Temescal Cyn Road. Sand way too hot to walk in without sandals. Warm water temps and stingrays in the shallows near the water's edge. One beach patron steps on a stingray which then strikes him on the left foot, which causes bleeding and a good deal of pain. The remedy is to seek help from the lifeguards who bring a bucket and alot of hot water to soak his foot in. After an hour or so the pain subsides. The photo shows the lifeguard vehicle on scene where he set the injured patron in his beach chair on the berm and dug a hole in the sand where he placed a large heavy plastic bag and filled it with hot water. It was really quite comfortable for the man with a view of the ocean, surrounded by friends and family and an umbrella and nephews and nieces waiting on him hand and right foot... True story with a happy ending.
