Swimmers in Strong Position After City Prelims
Palisades High's girls dominate the relays; Amis has top times in 50 and 100 freestyle.

If Tuesday's preliminary times are any indication, Palisades High swimmers could be taking a few victory laps at the conclusion of the City Section Championships on Friday in Los Angeles.
The Dolphins are well-positioned for first place in the varsity girls competition after dominating the relays at prelims. Palisades' 200 medley relay squad of , , and won in 2:00.99.
Palisades' 200 freestyle relay team of , , and won in 1:45.96 and the 400 freestyle relay, consisting of Vitous, Silka, and Rossie took first place by clocking 3:52.76.

Palihi girls also won individual events. Vitous won the 200 freestyle in 1:59.40 and took first place in the 100 freestyle in 55.48. Kamjou was second in the 100 backstroke in 1:05.00.
Rossie qualified third in the 1:12.21 in the 100 backstroke and third in the 200 individual medley in 2:22.40; Fullerton was third in the 100 butterfly in 1:03.85; and VanNorden was third in the 50 freestyle in 26.67.

In the varsity boys competition, the Dolphins' 200 medley relay, consisting of , , and won in 1:45.85 and Palisades' 400 freestyle relay team of Amis, , Hacker and finished second in 3:29.55.
Individually, Amis won the 50 freestyle in 22.17 and won the 100 freestyle in 49.53; Hacker qualified second in the 200 freestyle in 1:51.55; and Marsh won the 100 butterfly in 54.28 and was second in the 200 individual medley in 2:05.46.
El Camino Real ninth-grader Ciara Monahan won the girls' diving championship and Jerome Ames of Birmingham won the boys' diving championship Wednesday at Valley College.
Palisades' girls won the City title and the boys finished third last spring.
The City Section Championships will start at 2 p.m. Friday at , located next to the LA Coliseum.
